Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
1. Introduction
Gbanwe ('we', 'our', 'us') is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the Gbanwe platform. We comply with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) 2019.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following information when you use Gbanwe: Account information (name, phone number, email address, profile photo, location); Identity verification data (BVN and/or NIN — only required for cash-out); Usage data (swap history, credit transactions, ratings, reviews); Device information (device type, OS version, app version); Communications (in-app chat messages between users).
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to: provide and improve the Gbanwe Service; verify your identity for cash-out transactions (KYC); match you with relevant skill providers; send push notifications about swaps, messages, and platform updates; detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and policy violations; comply with legal obligations under Nigerian law.
4. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using Firebase (Google Cloud infrastructure) with encryption at rest and in transit. Profile photos and portfolio images are stored on Cloudinary with access controls. We never store BVN or NIN in plain text — these are encrypted and used solely for identity verification. We retain your data for as long as your account is active, or as required by Nigerian law.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We may share data with: Firebase/Google (infrastructure provider); Cloudinary (media storage); Paystack (payment processing — only transaction-relevant data); Nigerian regulatory authorities if required by law. All third-party providers are bound by data processing agreements.
6. Your Rights (NDPR)
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; correct inaccurate data; request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements); withdraw consent for data processing; lodge a complaint with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@gbanwe.app.
7. Cookies
The Gbanwe website (gbanwe.app) uses minimal cookies for analytics (Vercel Analytics — privacy-friendly, no personal data collected) and session management. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings without affecting core website functionality.
8. Children's Privacy
Gbanwe is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If we become aware that a minor has created an account, we will delete their data immediately.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Your continued use of Gbanwe after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
